From the Wolf Family Group Leadership
🐺 Welcome and Hello Wolf Family!
Before we start, this newsletter is for any parents or guardians that want to learn about what we do as the Wolf Family Group for Witch Hazel Elementary, how we help the kids, and support the school. We couldn’t do any of this without the amazing support from our Parents and School Staff! 🐺
Thank you to everyone who joined our October 1st Wolf Family Group meeting! We know it was a different day than normal, and appreciate the help!
If you would like to attend our Wolf Family Group meetings we’d love to have you! They are (mostly) the First Thursday of the month from 5-6pm in the library. A light dinner and childcare is provided. You can subscribe to our Wolf Family Group Google calendar here for notifications!
Our next Wolf Family Group meeting is:
📆 Thursday, November 6 @ 5pm in the Library
Calling on the Wolf Pack!
🐺 Wolf Pack Food Drive! Standing Together This Season
We know times are getting tougher. With changes to local food benefits starting this month, many families right here in our community are facing real challenges putting meals on the table.
But that’s not how our Wolf Pack works. 🐾
When one of us struggles, we all show up.
This November and December, the Wolf Family Group is hosting a Food Drive to help make sure every family in our community has what they need. We’ve partnered with another Wolf Family community to help assemble and deliver food packs with care.
📋 How to help:
Visit our website at OurWolfFamily.org to download the list of most-needed items.
Drop off donations at school or give through our Food Drive Donation Page — we’ll do the shopping and stretch every dollar as far as it can go.
Together, we make sure no one in our Pack goes hungry. ❤️
We can do it, fam! Together we can!

Wolf Family Events
🍂 Thanks for joining us for the Fall Festival!
We had such an amazing time at our Fall Festival Celebration! Thank you to all who came to dance and enjoy yourselves!
We got to learn all about the different cultures and celebrations, and we had some adorable crafts for the kiddos! Like the Dia de los Muertos sugar skulls, Diwalli lanterns, Halloween masks!
The DJ was awesome and we danced so much! It was great seeing our families lead different dances for us!
The Fall Festival will definitely become an annual Wolf Family Group celebration!
Check out our Photo Album and upload your own photos to share with other families!

🙌 Volunteer Opportunities
We need your help to make our events a success! You can volunteer without the background check required by HSD because our events are after school hours.
🛝 Playground gazebo installation: We got new Gazebos to help shade the playground for our beautification project! We’ll need volunteers to help build and install the two gazebos in our playground. The projected date for building the gazebos is December 6th, weather permitting.
🍿 Family Movie Night! We need volunteers on December 5th to help make popcorn and place into bags, and help with food sales.
🧑🏫 Our teachers need volunteers too! If you are cleared by HSD with a fingerprint and background check, please let us know when you fill in the form!
Parent Contributions
🫶 Family Support
Each month we’ll share simple ways you can support our school with items from home.
🥤 Blue Bags: Remember to fill your Blue Bags with empty cans and bottles to help our ongoing Bottle Drive! Return filled BottleDrop Blue Bags to any drop off location (like Fred Meyer) to help raise funds for our Wolf Family Group. We have more bags if you need new ones! Let us know and we’ll bring them to the office for pick up!
👕 Wolf Gear: Our ongoing fundraiser! We have 4 styles in kid and adult sizes, hoodies, and we’ll be adding more items soon! You can order anytime at ourwolffamily.org
Building Together
🏗 Project & Fundraiser Updates

Shade Structures: We have updates about gazebo installation! The amazing company Foundations First offered to donate their time in drilling holes and pouring concrete for the anchors of the gazebo! This will make them a semi-permanent structure and be safer for the kids to play under! They will be pouring on our next No School day, November 10. To give the concrete time to cure, we will need help building the gazebos near Saturday, December 6th weather permitting.
Picnic Tables: Lowe’s has graciously donated 10 picnic tables for the kids to sit at once the gazebos are installed! Those are set for delivery around December 8th!

💡 Parent Tips & Resources
From Principal Debbie Alvarado:
Routine Matters: Consistent sleep helps children be ready to learn.
Screen Time: Excessive use affects how children interact with the world. Consider charging phones outside bedrooms.
Attendance: “9 or less is best” — students with 94% or better attendance are more likely to succeed.
Security resources: The officers at Hillsboro Police Department mentioned at the most recent Coffee with the Principal, that we as parents have the ability/option to contact them if needed. You can contact them through our principal, Ms. Alvarado, or Directly.
